Food Allergen Centre (FAC) Ltd is a UKAS accredited laboratory that specialises in allergen and mycotoxin testing for the food and feed industry. FAC is accredited in accordance with the recognised International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005.
Food allergies are adverse reactions to food proteins and are believed to affect 6-8% of children under the age of three and nearly 4% of adults. Symptoms to food allergies can range from mild to severe and even life-threatening. Under European legislation, food manufacturers and retailers are required to label major allergens, wherever they appear in pre-packed food.
